Dr Wan Haslina Halim is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She is Head and Senior Consultant in Cornea and Anterior Segment Unit in Hospital Canselor Tunku Mukhriz, the teaching hospital of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Adjunct Professor of Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, UCSI.
A dedicated and passionate clinician, her surgical specialty includes complex cataract surgery and IOL implantations, corneal transplants as well as ocular surface reconstruction including limbal stem cell regeneration therapy. Dr Wan’s special research area are clinical trials in dry eye diseases, anterior segment surgeries and regenerative and stem cell therapy. Her expertise in corneal biomechanics in keratoconus , myopia and allergic conjunctivitis are almost unique in this region.She is also an avid clinical scientist which has garnered collaborations with governmental agencies and non profit organisations. She was awarded with many national scientific and industrial grants in the field of ophthalmic clinical trials, corneal stem cell, biomaterial and ocular surface reconstruction. Her clinical expertise in the treatment of complex corneal diseases and transplant surgeries are attested in her research and clinical cases publications.
