Dr. Ong Chin Tuan is a consultant ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon at Beacon Hospital. He graduated with honors from the University of Aberdeen and began his medical career as a physician. After obtaining the MRCP (UK) qualification, he commenced his ophthalmology training in England. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London. In addition, he underwent oculoplastic fellowship training in Salisbury, Southampton, and Leeds. He lived in the UK for a total of 19 years and was an honorary consultant ophthalmologist at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds before returning to Malaysia under the TalentCorp’s Returning Expert Programme in 2013. He worked as a clinical lecturer at the University of Malaya Medical Centre before embarking into full-time private practice in 2016.
His clinical interests include oculoplastic surgery, with a focus on endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR).
Outside of clinical work, Dr. Ong is passionate about aquaponics gardening and participates in medical missions serving indigenous communities in Pahang, Malaysia.
