Dr. Nurliza Khaliddin is a distinguished Consultant Ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric ophthalmology at University Malaya Medical Center and Universiti Malaya Specialist Center. She also serves as a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Universiti Malaya’s Faculty of Medicine. With over two decades of clinical, academic, and administrative experience, she has held key roles including Head of Department (2011–2019) and Chairperson of several national ophthalmology education committees. 

Dr. Nurliza holds multiple postgraduate qualifications, including an MBBS from Universiti Malaya, a Master of Ophthalmology (UM), a Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from National University Hospital, Singapore, and FRCS (Ophthalmology) from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. She further honed her pediatric subspecialty training at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. 

Nationally recognized for her leadership and service, she has received numerous awards, including the 2023 Distinguished Service Award from the Asia Pacific Association of Ophthalmology. Her extensive research spans diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, and ocular neurodegeneration, supported by international and national grants. 

An examiner for ophthalmology boards and a mentor to many postgraduate students, Dr. Nurliza also contributes to editorial boards and policy-making committees, helping shape Malaysia’s ophthalmology education and healthcare standards.
