Dr. Noraisyah Mohamed Shah is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. With a strong foundation in signal processing and artificial intelligence, she specializes in applying image processing techniques to enhance image quality and visibility across various challenging conditions.
She holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from George Mason University, USA, where she focused on satellite signal analysis. She also earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from Oita University, Japan, where she worked on face image detection, and a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Malaya.
Dr. Noraisyah’s research explores illumination types and enhancement methods in image processing, with a particular focus on adaptive techniques for improving image contrast and brightness. Her work includes enhancing retinal images to improve medical analysis and developing illumination enhancement methods using adaptive regularization to refine image quality in complex environments.
Beyond medical imaging, she has contributed to research in smart driving, utilizing computer vision to detect road signs and signboards under adverse weather and low-light conditions. Her expertise also extends to facial feature extraction techniques, further demonstrating her broad proficiency in image and signal processing.
