Dr. Manoharan Shunmugam is a consultant ophthalmologist and adult & paediatric vitreoretinal surgeon with a strong passion for research. He has authored publications in numerous high-impact journals and contributed to two vitreoretinal reference textbooks. A sought-after speaker, he has been invited to present at multiple international conferences.
After obtaining his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) and completing a vitreoretinal fellowship in London, he further specialised with a Paediatric VR Fellowship at the prestigious L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, India. This advanced training makes him one of the few paediatric VR surgeons serving in the Asia-Pacific region.
Dr. Manoharan is currently the Director of Clinical Services at the flagship branch of OasisEye Specialists in Kuala Lumpur, a leading multi-subspeciality ambulatory eye centre. He is the Immediate Past President of the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology (MSO), a founding member of the Asia-Pacific Paediatric Retina Association (APPREA), and an active member of the APVRS and APAO.
