Prof Mae-Lynn is a senior consultant ophthalmologist and Professor of Vitreoretina from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She did her fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at The Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital Singapore in 2007. Currently, she is head of the vitreo-retinal unit of the Department of Ophthalmology at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, UKM, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Holder of the Anugerah Sanjungan Kencana from Faculty of Medicine, UKM, for Best Clinical teacher in Senior Category in 2019 and Anugerah Keterlibatan Industri (Penyelidikan) in 2022, her research also received 3 consecutive Silver Awards for best research papers awarded by the College of Ophthalmology @ Academy of Medicine Malaysia (COAMM) from 2022-2024. She holds the patent for topical insulin for cornea epithelial defects in patients with diabetes for UKM. She is the coordinator for the UKM fellowship programme in Vitreoretinal Surgery. She is a member of the Asia-Pacific Vitreoretinal Society, Asia-Pacific Ophthalmic Trauma Society and Asia-Pacific Ocular Imaging Society. She also holds the following positions: Treasurer of the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology; Fellow and Elected Chair of the Vitreoretinal Chapter of the COAMM, and Advisor to the Malaysian Advocacy for Myopia Prevention Board. Her main private practice is at UKM Specialist Centre.
