Anup completed MS Ophthalmology from GMC, Nagpur followed by one and a half year stint as a senior registrar in BYL Nair Hospital, Mumbai. He later pursued a 2-year fellowship from Vitreo Retina and Uveitis in L V Prasad Eye Institute, Bhubaneshwar. Dr Kelgaonkar's core areas of interest are Uveitis and Advanced Vitreoretinal surgeries and he is actively involved in clinical research of Uveitis. He is co-investigator in several multicentric randomized clinical trials.
He has 48 publications in peer review journals predominantly in the field of uveitis. Ocular toxoplasmosis is his primary area of research.
